We love Roisin Murphy’s sweet-ish Irish electro-funk-pop, but we can’t help but notice how similar Daniel Wolfe’s [Partizan] video for “Let Me Know” is to Jonny C’s [No Performance] video of Drew Brown’s “Anything“.
Both explore how a normally mundane café environment can be turned into an exciting showplace. But mostly, both have sparklers. Check them both out:

or, er, but, and, yes….well, yet—
TOMORROW NIGHT = CONJUNCTION GUMPTION
Sam Sparro will be singing songs with Golden [Modus Vivendi] and Hope Reformant Chris Cruse will be continuing missionary duties on behalf of deep groove, gospel, and spaced out records [i.e. disc jokeying jockeying].
Events to take begin softly at 8pm and ramp up once Blonde Redhead’s Sunset Junction set ends. All taking place at Found Gallery. Free + Complimentary Mint Juleps.
I can’t really vouch for House Arrest (alt name for DJ Cole Medina), except that he posted on the Sarcastic Disco MySpace. Sounds like he went in May and Harvey played a track of his towards the end.
This remix was playing on his MySpace, and I’ve really been into it. I think he must’ve layed his stuff under the a capella version released on the HelloGoodbye Remixes EP (check out their jokes, by the way). Whatever it’s great - check it. More like this, please.
He makes sushi by hand, has an autographed copy of a Tiësto record, and is a renowned house DJ. Behold, my Montréal roommate Kandaio. Otherwise known as Alex.
While we were watching When The Levees Broke on his projector he told me he was going to make me the best noodles I’ve ever had. Was I skeptical? Of course, but did Kandaio stand by his word? Of course. They were awesome.
He makes this video podcast you can see on iTunes, called iParty. I’m still not entirely sure what it is, but be sure that one day the world will know what this guy has up his sleeves.

Right now he’s writing a business plan at his mother’s cottage. I do miss his company.
So we’re not hooked into the Hype Machine because we’d prefer you to search us out for other nefarious purposes. Nevertheless, we’re here to bring you the freshest new tracks from some of our favorite artists. You won’t find these anywhere else, as of 3:10am EST June 12. Losing our edge?
Caribou - Sandy
Caribou - Desiree
Jus†ice - Newjack

I hear you have a funny joke that’s funnier than any joke I know.
I hear you read interviews by people that are younger than us and doing cooler shit.
I hear you have a white label of anything something.
I hear phonemes.
Resisting the urge to make a “levees broke” joke, I must report in earnest that Sea Level Records in Echo Park will be closing its doors forever. I have seen many fledgling “next-thing”ers trying to make in-store appearances there and I have seen no better selection than I have at Amoeba. But it’s still sad to know that a neighborhood record store cannot, under any conventional circumstances, stay afloat (sorry). CDs are unnecessary - vinyl is a strange demand to deal with - and unless you have something really different to offer no one cares.
Sea Level was a vibrant part of the Echo Park economy, contributing to it while the gentrification movements sucked out the culture. I mean, I guess. Everything in the store goes on sale June 1st. If you value physical manifestations of music, go right now cause it’s a bargain. If you want to party with them and say you were there, go to Safari Sam’s on Friday, June 22.
Sea Level will be missed by anyone who has tried to do something in the music scene this side of town.
May means, to many, to be free to or to indicate probability. Yeah, exactly, right? Sums it up right? Yeah I remember Anything Can Happen Day on MMC. Wednesdays I think. And then Damon, Tiffini, Chase, Albert, and DeeDee broke off from the group and formed The Party in ‘90. Which brings me to what’s happening this Friday here at Landa. A Party.
